Dynamics CRM

The Dynamics CRM connection in linqi allows you to read and write data in Microsoft Dynamics CRM from processes. For example, you can query, create, update or delete contacts, accounts and leads.

info

To be able to use Dynamics CRM, you must activate the corresponding feature in the business unit management.

Connection

To be able to work with a Dynamics CRM system via the Dynamics CRM actions in linqi, you must first create a corresponding connection in the connection management ( button in the navigation). In the connection list, you can use the plus button on the top right-hand side and then select Dynamics CRM.

You have the following options in the connection settings:

  • Display name: The display name helps you to reuse the connection and can be freely assigned.
  • Type of authentication: Here you can define the way linqi logs on to Dynamics CRM. The following options are available:
    • User name and password: linqi attempts to log on to Dynamics CRM with a user name and password. This login method can be used for On-Premise and Online environments.
    • User and ClientId (Dynamics CRM Online): This login type is to be used exclusively for Dynamics CRM Online. linqi logs on in the context of a user via Microsoft Entra. You must create a corresponding app registration (see Client Id).
  • User name: The user name specifies the user with whom the Dynamics CRM connection is established. This account must have access rights to Dynamics CRM. For Dynamics CRM Online, multi-factor authentication must be deactivated for this account.
  • Password: The password is used to connect to Dynamics CRM. It is stored in encrypted form and only displayed in masked form in the UI.
  • Client Id: This field only appears for the authentication type User and ClientId (Dynamics CRM Online). To obtain the client ID, you must first log in to the Azure portal. There, select Azure Active Directory and then navigate to the app registrations. Create a new app there. You must ensure that you assign the Dynamics CRM permissions (user_impersonation) as API permissions, grant admin consent and activate Allow public client flows. The details of the requirements can be found in the question mark next to the Client Id field.

The specific Dynamics 365 environment (environment URL) and the entity to be worked with are not defined in the connection, but in each individual action. Details can be found in the Dynamics CRM actions.

A typical use case is capturing prospects who get in touch with you via your website. A prospect fills out a form on your website via an anonymous start link. The data captured in the form can then be written directly to Dynamics CRM via a Create Dynamics CRM entry action, for example as a new lead or account. This way, website inquiries end up in your CRM without any manual intermediate step.

Actions

You can find the Dynamics CRM actions in the process actions section.
