Canvas
The canvas is the central work area of the BPMN 2.0 Designer. You define the various elements of the process on it.
Placing and moving elements
- Drag an element from the element palette into the canvas.
- Move placed elements by drag and drop.
- Select an element by click. When selected, context-specific actions are displayed in the context menu.
Sequence flows
Sequence flows connect the elements of the process. To insert a sequence flow, drag from the connection point of one element onto the next element while holding the mouse button down.
Auto-arrange
Using the legend, you can automatically arrange the elements. The current arrangement is lost in the process. Confirm the step in the Automatically arrange process definition dialog.
Zoom
- Zoom using CTRL + ALT + mouse wheel.
- The current zoom level is displayed in the legend and can be reset there.
Pool and lanes
A pool (participant) contains the elements of a participating party and can contain lanes. Select the pool to open the pool settings:
- Alignment:
Determines the orientation of the pool.
- Horizontal
- Vertical
- Insert lane: Inserts a new lane.
- Remove lane: Deletes a lane.
- Move upwards / Move downwards: Moves the lane.
- Move to the left / Move to the right: Moves the lane.
- Insert milestone: Inserts a milestone.
- Delete milestone: Deletes a milestone.
Subprocess
A subprocess (expanded) references another linqi process. Select the subprocess to choose the referenced process or to open it.
Circular dependencies are not allowed. If the selected process references the parent process, the message "This process references a parent process. Please resolve the dependency so that no circular references exist anymore." is displayed.
